Odds and Ends....

More bakery activities.... we had a taste test of various bakery breads; French toast, waffles, pancakes, white bread and wheat buns.  We tasted, we looked at them with the magnifying glasses, we talked about the differences

We drew pictures and wrote about which ones we liked the best and why.

We made lists of what we ate and looked at....

Another day, during our gardening time with Mr. John and Ms. Nadeska, we picked greens from our garden and made a huge salad, which almost all of us ate (even those of us who do not usually eat ANYTHING green).  Our salad had Okinawa spinach, kale, dino kale, collard greens and some other things that were in the garden.  It was yummy!

A math center set up and waiting for friends....  We try to set up interesting centers (a more professional title is a provocation) for the children with different items.  One skill that is really important for them is symbolic thinking, where they can imagine something being something else.  We like lots of loose parts for counters and building to start this thinking  early.  We also try to provide books on the subject as well.

And in use....

Other activities in the science area....

And of course, building in the block center.

We are looking forward to some AWESOME Valentine's Day activities, as well as celebrating Chinese New Year....
